The Mix and Match residential house, designed by Ping-Yang Chen, is a testament to the exquisite design skills and innovative approach to interior design. This unique house showcases the soft loft style, with simple and elegant lines that create a harmonious living space. What sets this design apart is the comprehensive use of mixed-and-matched materials, which adds a touch of grace and sophistication to the interiors.
The main TV wall, composed of coarse aggregates, features stylish curves that expose a graceful texture reminiscent of delicate paper. The clever use of mixed materials not only allows for an economical budget but also enhances the visual appeal of the space. The independent study room, located behind the sofa, is furnished with clear glass, expanding the sense of sight to the living room while maintaining a peaceful environment. The vibrant blue wall in the study room creates a lively ambiance, contrasting beautifully with the calm colors in the public areas.
With a total area of 179 square meters, the Mix and Match house impresses with its extensive visual perception in the public area, which includes the living and dining room. The entryway, adorned with iron works and glass, seamlessly extends the design style to the TV wall. The use of materials typically found in business space interior design sets this house apart from others.
Opening the sliding barn door next to the study room reveals a vista at the end of the indoor walkway, connecting to the private area. The wedding window, located beside the personal dressing room, showcases the hostess's most gorgeous moments through obscured skills. The bedroom, decorated with woods and a grayish pink color scheme, exudes a serene aura. The overall interior design plan, with its mixed-and-matched materials, captures the essence of the design philosophy.
The open dining room and kitchen, furnished with an island counter and ceiling metal rack, add character to the space. The customized wood extendable table provides a cozy environment for entertaining guests. The peaceful and warm colors, along with the elegant textures, seamlessly integrate the coarse and elegant design aesthetics.
The Mix and Match house, completed in 2017 in Hsinchu County, Taiwan, is a testament to the designer's creativity and technical expertise. It has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Mix and Match house truly contributes to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.
